ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson's Kye Andress was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player of the Week, while Anderson's Ben Smith was named WePlayed Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week two of the 2024 season, the Conference office announced today.
Andress, a senior infielder from Hendersonville, N.C., led the Trojans to a 4-0 record last week, including a three-game sweep of non-conference foe King. He batted .438 for the week with two doubles, two home runs, eight runs scored, and 11 runs batted in. Andress finished the week with a .526 on-base percentage, a .938 slugging percentage, and two stolen bases.
Smith, a junior right-hander from Cleveland, Tenn., went the distance for the Trojans picking up a complete game, shutout win against King (13-0). He scattered two hits over seven innings, with no runs and five strikeouts.
