ANDERSON, S.C. –The Anderson women's tennis team fell for the second straight match, 6-3, to South Atlantic Conference opponent Newberry on Sunday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex
With the setback, the Trojans drop to 8-9 overall and 4-5 in conference play while the Wolves 20-4 overall and 7-1 in SAC play.
The Black and Gold were down 2-1 following doubles action with the No. 3 flight grabbing the lone point. Ivey Welborn and Jennifer Holcombe defeated Joelle Husle and Korina Martinez, 8-6.
Playing in the No. 4 position, AU's Victoria Wuilloud defeated Lucia Davila, 7-5, 6-1 while Cameron Blanchard won over Rebeca Martinez, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 5 flight to set the final score at 6-3.
Anderson remains at home to host nonconference rival Erskine on Tuesday. First serve to see who earns a coveted Beville Cup point is slated for 4 p.m.
