Noelle Knutsen and Kennedy McGaha Named Jimmy John’s Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University senior Noelle Knutsen and sophomore Kennedy McGaha have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending October 16.

Knutsen, a volleyball player from Parker, Colo., helped lead the Trojans to two conference road wins on the week, including their sixth straight win and AU's first win at Tusculum since 2018. She posted a team-high 10 total blocks (1.25/set) in the two wins and added 28 kills (3.50/set) behind a .436 attacking percentage, while committing just four errors in 55 swings.

Knutsen recorded 15 kills on a stellar .406 hitting percentage and posted five block assists in AU's four-set win at Mars Hill, Oct. 11, then had 13 kills, four solo blocks and a block assist in the Trojans' four-set win at Tusculum on Oct. 14. Knutsen ranks second in the SAC in hitting percentage and fifth in kills per set, while standing fourth in blocks per set.

McGaha, a women's golfer from Honea Path, led the Trojans to two tournament wins in a seven-day span, as AU captured North Georgia's LeeAnn Noble Memorial by tying the school record with a three-round 867 on Oct. 11, then followed up by winning the Saint Leo Invitational three days ago, while shattering the week-old school record by eight strokes.

McGaha shared runner-up honors at North Georgia after climbing seven spots during the third round, with her 54-hole 215 matching the fourth-lowest three-round score in program history.

She then claimed third place at Saint Leo behind the second-lowest 54-hole score in school history (211). McGaha matched her season-best with a first round 69, then fired a career-low 5-under 67 in the second round and finished the tournament with a career-best, three-round 211.

Each week, two student-athletes are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performances in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
