Howser and Molly Child Earn All-Tournament Honors: Abby Child Named Tourney MVP

HARROGATE, Tenn. - On the heels of Anderson University's first Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship, senior shortstop Abby Child has been named the Tournament MVP, while junior Katelynn Howser and sophomore Molly Child were named to the All-Tournament Team, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.

Abby Child had seven hits in 12 at-bats (.583) during the four-game span, punctuated by a walk-off two-run homer in the win past Catawba on Saturday to send Anderson to the title game. She also posted two additional home runs, eight RBI, three walks and three runs during the tournament, and her 17 total bases were a tournament-high.

The senior went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in AU's 5-0 championship game victory over Wingate.

Molly Child was 5-for-14 (.357) during the tournament, including a pair of key doubles, and scored four runs while driving in three runs.

Howser, a right-handed hurler, garnered the start in each of the four tournament contests and earned three wins without a loss, while posting a 2.30 ERA. She tossed 24 1/3 innings, including two complete games, while surrendering eight earned runs on 26 hits. Howser struck out 12 and walked 10, with opponents hitting .274 over the four contests.
