Tuten Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University rising senior Hayden Tuten has been named to the 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District® Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, as announced early Friday afternoon.

The team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Tuten has claimed the honor for the second straight year after also capturing the South Atlantic Conference's Men's Cross Country Elite 20 Award following the 2019 SAC Cross Country Championships.

During last fall's cross country campaign, he claimed the 63rd spot at the SAC Cross Country Championships, while finishing 328th at the Royals Cross Country Challenge. Tuten crossed the finish line in 174th place at Florida's Mountain Dew Invitational and finished 18th in the 5,000 meters at the SAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in late February. He claimed 28th place in the 3,000 meters at South Carolina's Indoor Open, while claiming 19th place in the 5,000 meters at the Gamecock Opener.

The Columbia, S.C., native is majoring in business/marketing with a 3.96 GPA.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced later this month.

The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs.
