Trojan Track and Field Teams Earn Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS – The Anderson University men's and women's track and field squads have been named 2016 Division II All-Academic Track & Field teams, as recently announced by the by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Trojans joined Queens University of Charlotte as the lone representatives from the South Atlantic Conference, as the two squads were among 66 men's teams across the nation to earn the academic distinction. A total of 117 women's teams, including the Trojans, Mars Hill, Queens and Wingate claimed the honor as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher.

In addition, Christopher Burton earned individual academic honors from the USTFCCCA, joining a total of 294 men from 90 institutions in garnering All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.

Burton, a rising junior, currently holds a 3.12 GPA.
