ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University men's tennis defeated
nonconference opponent Limestone on Friday afternoon, 6-3, at the
Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center.
The Trojans improve to 13-6 overall gaining momentum heading
into the South Atlantic Conference Tournament while Limestone drops
to 8-10 on the year.
Anderson took control from the start winning all three doubles matches to gain a 3-0 advantage. In the No. 1 spot for the Trojans Mateo Rivas and Aljaz Cajzek defeated Stefano Soares and Benji Lascari Diaz, 8-6 while veterans Nicolas Ascarrunz and Paul Michael Calhoun won, 8-4, over Gustavo D'Ascenzi and Guillermo Ortega at the No. 2 flight. No. 3 seeded Juan Carracedo and Inaki Iriberri finished off the doubles sweep by defeating Luka Stanec and Enrique Moreno, 8-6.
Anderson won three of the six singles matches to set the final score at 6-3. With the victories, Calhoun and Carracedo posted their 11th singles win of the year while Ascarrunz earned his eighth singles win for the Black and Gold.
Anderson men's tennis will shift all focus on preparing for the SAC Conference Tournament that begins on April 21 that is being played in Brevard, N.C.
