ANDERSON, S.C. - Looking to bounce back following a pair of
disappointing South Atlantic Conference losses to Queens on Sunday,
Anderson University men's and women's tennis return to the courts
to host conference foe Lincoln Memorial. The Trojans will face off
with the Railsplitters on Friday at 2 p.m. at the AU Tennis
Complex.
The Trojans - Men
The men's tennis team is coming into Friday's match with an overall
record of 5-2 and 3-1 in SAC play. Doubles pairings Nicolas
Ascarrunz and Paul Michael Calhoun and Inaki Iriberri and Ramior
Urreta are a perfect 2-0 on the young season while partners Aljaz
Cajzek and Mateo Rivas are 3-3.
In singles play, Iriberri is 6-1, while Mateo Rivas and Ramiro Urreta are 5-2 and 4-2 respectively.
The Trojans- Women
On the women's side, the Trojans are 6-2 overall and 3-1 in
conference play suffering their first conference setback of the
year on Sunday versus Queens. Doubles partners Rebecca Bruning and
Ivey Welborn are 7-1 on the season while holding a 20-6 all-time
record as a pairing.
In the singles portion, veterans Alexandra Ebner and Karen Faria are 6-2 while freshman Jennifer Holcombe and Bruning improve their record to 5-2.
The Railsplitters - Men
Lincoln Memorial men's tennis finished the 2014-15 season with an
overall record of 7-6 and 5-5 in conference play with Anderson
beating LMU in the SAC quarterfinals 5-0, last year.
The Railsplitters (1-6, 0-3 SAC) have lost each of their conference matches so far this season.
The Railsplitters- Women
The women's tennis team posted a (5-9, 3-8 SAC) record a year ago.
Lincoln Memorial is currently 4-4 overall and 0-3 in the SAC on the
season.
