Women’s Cross Country Finishes Sixth at Falcon Classic

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Paced by senior Olivia Gardner's sixth-place finish, the Anderson University women's cross country team finished sixth at the Falcon Classic, hosted by Montevallo Saturday morning at the Falcon's Cross Country Course.

Anderson, which was ranked fourth in the Southeast Region in last week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) poll, was one of three South Atlantic Conference teams to run the 6K course.

As a sophomore two seasons ago, Gardner (22:28.62) earned All-Southeast Region honors on the same course and crossed the line 32 seconds faster than last week at Furman over the same distance. Junior Alex Dixon crossed the line in 23rd place in a time of 23:24.97, with fellow junior Haylee Love capturing 27th place in a time of 23:38.70. Freshman Breck Jones (24:10.09) claimed 41st, while sophomore Abigail Bozarth crossed the line in 45th in a time of 24:17.21.

Sophomore Martha Coleman was 49th in a time of 24:22.32 and freshman Morgan Bridges claimed 52nd after trimming more than 23 seconds off her season-best time at the same distance. Sophomore Maddie Buddenberg (24:38.43) finished 59th after shaving more than 17 seconds off last weeks' time and senior Grace Gerlock was 61st in a time of 24:44.46.

Freshman Rebecca Faircloth was nearly 22 seconds faster than last week with a time of 25:08.09 and finished 64th, while senior Mia Swiersz finished 79th in a time of 25:51.64.

Anderson will get back on the course in a week, at Southern Wesleyan's Warrior Invitational.
