DUE WEST, S.C. - Erskine held off a furious Anderson rally to upset the Lady Trojans 78-75 in a CVAC women's game Saturday night at the Galloway Athletic Center. Erskine, 5-9 overall and 2-8 in the CVAC, shot 55 percent from the field in the first half to build a 43-30 halftime lead. However, that lead evaporated in the first 15 minutes of the second half as AC rallied to tie the game at 72 with 4:58 remaining. The loss drops AC to 9-8 overall, 6-4 in the CVAC, and ends the Lady Trojans' four-game road trip at 1-3. But the Lady Trojans could never take the lead. Melissa Woods, who led Erskine with 25 points, made two free throws with 3:18 remaining to give the Flying Fleet at 74-72 lead. After Erskine pulled ahead 77-72, Kelly Latham nailed a 3-point goal for AC to cut the Fleet lead to 77-75 with 51 seconds remaining. Latham had two more chances from behind the arc in the final minute, but both of her attempts rolled out. Anderson was led by Leann Segers with a game-high 27 points. Segers was 10 for 15 from the field and 7 for 9 from behind the arc. She also had six rebounds and six assists. Decole Shoemate was the only other AC player in double figures with 12. Woods was one of five Fleet players in double figures. Anita Owens added 15 points, Shakela Fuller had 13, Tre' Wylie had 12 and Chacee Whittington had 10. For the third consecutive game, AC got outscored by double digits at the free throw line. Erskine was 18 for 21 from the line, while AC was 7 for 11. In their last three games, the Lady Trojans have been outscored by 44 points from the free throw line. Erskine finished the game at 51 percent from the field, while AC managed just 38 percent. The Lady Trojans shot just 29 percent (10-35) from the field in the first half. Led by Shoemate and Shemika Reed, who had eight rebounds apiece, AC won the boards, 39-33. AC was 14 for 34 from behind the arc, while Erskine was 10 for 22. Game Statistics Season Statistics
