Men’s Cross Country Claims Seventh Place Overall at Royals Challenge; Trojans Finish in Fifth Place among NCAA DII Teams

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Led by freshman Logan Horning's personal-best effort, the Anderson men's cross country team finished seventh overall and fifth among NCAA Division II squads at the ninth annual Royals Cross Country Challenge, Friday afternoon at McAlpine Creek Park.

Horning crossed the finish line in 33rd place in a time of 25:01, with sophomore Ben Clark also posting a career-best time of 25:08 and finishing 43rd. Classmate Weston Hutto (25:10) ran a personal-best time en route to a 49th-place finish, with sophomore Phillip Quillen crossing the finish line in 98th place in a career-best time of 25:44.

Freshman Thomas Sutcliffe trimmed more than two minutes off his previous season-best time over the 8K course and finished in 125th place in a time of 26:03. Sophomore Joey Teachout notched a career-best time of 26:12 and claimed 137th place, while freshman Noah McLain was 141st in a personal-best time of 26:13.

Anderson will get back on the course, Saturday Oct. 20, at the Slippery Rock Pre-National Meet, which will be hosted by Slippery Rock at the Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pa.
