Seventh-Seeded AC Gets Trip To Belmont Abbey

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson College men's soccer team will make its first-ever appearance in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Wednesday in a quarterfinal match at Belmont Abbey in Belmont, N.C. AC, 8-9-1 overall, is seeded seventh in the tournament. Belmont Abbey, 11-6-2 overall, is seeded second. In the regular-season meeting between the two schools, Belmont Abbey beat AC 1-0 at Belmont on Sept. 12. AC first-year head coach Rob Miller led the Trojans to a 5-6 record in the CVAC during the regular season. Prior to this season, AC had won just four CVAC games in four years and went winless in the league in 2001. Offensively, the Trojans are led by sophomore Blake Wood, who finished the regular season with 13 goals. AC's defense is anchored in the middle by freshman Marcus Bradley. The winner of the AC-Belmont Abbey match will play the winner of the Lees-McRae-Limestone match at Belmont Abbey Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
