Men’s Golf Finished 11th at Food Lion SAC Championship

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Anderson University men's golf team slipped one spot from Thursday's second round, as the Trojans finished 11th at the three-day Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted at the 7,054-yard, par-72 Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn.

Carson-Newman (313-298-314=925) vaulted from third following Monday's second round to claim the team title by one shot over Wingate for the first time since 2004, while the Bulldogs (310-298-318=926) remained in the second spot for the second straight day. Newberry (313-302-316=931) jumped from fifth to third, while Lincoln Memorial (305-306-323=934) slipped from third to fourth. Tusculum (36-301=607), which held the top spot entering Tuesday's final round, dropped to fifth, with Queens (313-305-325=943) staying in the sixth slot.

Coker (316-304-330=950) was seven shots further back, while Brevard (316-310-337=963) and Catawba (316-316-333=965) placed eighth and ninth, respectively. Mars Hill (325-322-322=969) overtook both Anderson (316-319-338=973) and Lenoir-Rhyne (324-319-333=976=643) for the ninth spot, with the Trojans and Bears rounding out the 12-team field.

Wingate's Ben Gebhardt (77-67-72=216) posted a three-round even-par score to win individual medalist honors by 11 strokes over both Carson-Newman's Jonathan Kim-Moss (76-74-77=227) and Tusculum's Nick Forsberg (74-73-80=227.

Senior Sean Shelton carded a three-day (76-77-80=223) 17-over-par to lead AU and earn a share of 12th place, while fellow senior Arran Setro (80-80-82=242) finished nine strokes further back in a tie for 30th. Sophomore David Wachter (80-81-92=253) wrapped up the event in 54th, with junior CJ Messana (83-81-91=255) claiming 55th.
