Stewart Named Director of Football Strength and Conditioning

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University head football coach Bobby Lamb has announced that Jaxon Stewart has been named as Director of Football Strength and Conditioning.

A native of Corbin, Ky., Stewart was a two-sport athlete at Maryville College – competing for the Scots in both football and baseball from 2017-2019.

"We are thrilled to have Jaxon join our staff as our Director of Strength and Conditioning," said Lamb. "He has learned under two of the best and most respected strength and conditioning coaches in the country in Joey Batson and Jerry Schmidt and has demonstrated that he is ready to branch out and lead his own program. We are excited to have him set the foundation for our culture in the weight room. His beliefs and values are strongly in line with that of Anderson University and our current football staff. We welcome him and Mallory to the Trojan Family!"

Following his time in the Volunteer State, Stewart created a small business that focused on improving the athletic performance of youth athletes, while also providing both baseball and football position training.

From Aug., 2019 through Jan., 2022, Stewart worked as a Student Administrative Assistant with the Clemson football strength and conditioning program. As the head of the administrative student staff, Stewart led in the set-up up of the weight room prior to daily workouts. He worked closely with the Director of Strength, Speed, and Conditioning, along with the rest of the Tigers' coaching staff and served in a major role with the linebackers for the duration of summer workouts and programmed summer training for the linebackers.

He communicated with the defensive coordinator/linebacker coach and provided updates on summer training, while creating mini workouts that were available post practice to provide extra volume for recovery, injury, prevention, and mobility.

Following his 2 ½ year stint in the Upstate, Stewart began working with the Oklahoma football strength and conditioning program in June, 2022 as a graduate assistant. While with the Sooners' football program, Stewart collaborated with the Director of Performance, along with the rest of the coaching staff, and again worked directly with linebacking corps.

Additionally, Stewart collaborated with the Director of Sports Science about recovery methods, data collection and how to use that information for programming needed to ensure optimal performance.

While with the Sooners, He created individual and group workout and development plans tailored for injury rehabilitation, as well as for improving performance. He also attended and assisted during strength and conditioning portions of recruiting visits.

"My wife Mallory and I are excited to be a part of the Trojan Family," said Stewart. "I'm grateful for the opportunity that Coach Lamb, Coach (Jennifer) Anderson and Dr. Epting have given me to lead these men. I look forward to carrying out Coach Lamb's vision for the program, shaping our athletes into successful men off the field, all while developing athletes that we can win at the highest level with. Go Trojans!"

Stewart earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Clemson in May, 2022 and is an NSCA Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (NSCA CSCS), and is a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa SCCC).
