ROCK HILL, S.C. – On a day when everything was clicking for South Atlantic Conference powerhouse Carson-Newman, the Anderson University women's soccer team could not keep pace with the Eagles, falling 5-0 in the SAC Championship Semifinals Friday afternoon at Manchester Meadows Complex in Rock Hill.
With the loss, the Trojans end the conference tournament with a 9-6-2 overall record while the Eagles advance to face Wingate in the SAC Championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Carson-Newman controlled play from the opening whistle outshooting Anderson 10-1 in the first 45 minutes while scoring its first goal of the match in the 37th minute.
Following half-time, the Eagles continued to press outshooting the Trojans 20-4 for the half and 30-5 for the match while also holding a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Four other Eagles got into the scoring action during second half play with the first being scored within the first minute of the restart.
Carson-Newman boasts 10 All-SAC players and the 2016 SAC Player of the Year.
