No. 22 Trojans Cruise To 7-0 Sweep

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson Men's Tennis (5-0, 1-0 SAC) opened conference play with a dominant 7-0 win over Emory & Henry (3-3, 0-1 SAC) in their spring home opener Sunday at the Trojan Tennis Complex. The Trojans won their 12th consecutive regular season match, and stretched their home winning streak to 11 matches in a row.

"It was a great win today against Emory & Henry," said AU Head Coach Joey Eskridge. "We've never played them before so we didn't know what to expect, and they were actually more solid than I was expecting. The guys rose to the occasion and played well. Some of them didn't play the best tennis they've played but they played well enough to win. We got the W and move on. Hopefully we can stay undefeated through February, which we've never done before, when we head to Newberry next Sunday."

The Trojans began the day with a trio of doubles victories. The No. 3 team of junior Philip Olsson and sophomore Chambers Easterling made quick work of their opponents, winning 6-1. Senior Julian Kenzlers and sophomore Juan Sengariz followed with a 6-2 win at No. 2. After the point was clinched, the new team of junior Greyson Doscotch and senior Aaron Cabo were victorious 6-4 at the No. 1 spot.

Singles began strongly for AU as well. Nationally ranked Sengariz defeated the Wasps' number one player, Branson Smith, 6-2, 6-2. Kenzlers added another victory at the No. 4 position, 6-4, 6-2.

With the Black and Gold on the verge of clinching the match, Olsson was able to grab the deciding point after a tightly contested second set, 6-1, 7-6(3).

With the team win in hand, the Trojans finished strong with wins from Doscotch, Cabo, and Easterling to round out the match. The 8-4 win at the No. 6 spot for Easterling marked his first singles win as a Trojan.
