TAZEWELL, Tenn. – Graduate student Weston Bell posted his lowest two-round score of the season, while leading the Anderson University men's golf team to a tie for sixth place following the second round of the State Farm Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Lincoln Memorial at the Woodlake Golf Club.
After 36 holes on Monday, the two-day event on the par-72, 6,746 yard course will wrap up with 18 holes on Tuesday.
The host Railsplitters lead the 15-team field by eight shots over Lenoir-Rhyne, with Carson-Newman holding the third spot. Brevard is five strokes further back in fourth place, with Southern Wesleyan in fifth. Anderson, Walters State Community College and Barton ate tied for sixth, while Lincoln Memorial (Blue) holds the ninth slot.
Tusculum, Catawba, Coker, Mars Hill, Brevard (B) and Lincoln Memorial (Gray) round out the field.
Bell is in a four-way tie for fourth, just two shots off the pace set by Mars Hill's Adam Lumley, who posted a 5-under-par 139. LMU's Brandon Gibson and Carson-Newman's are one stroke behind Lumley. Bell carded 25 pars and eight birdies through the first two rounds, as the Piedmont, S.C., native carded a two-round 3-under-par 141 heading into Tuesday's final round.
Junior Forrest Fowler (148) is tied for 23rd after also carding eight birdies on the day. Freshman Jake Miller (153) posted eight birdies and sits in an eight-way tie for 47th, with sophomore Grayson Bell tied for 55th after a two-round 154. Sophomore David Monroe carded a 158 and is in a three-way tie for 64th. Junior Ryan Kincaid competed as an individual and is in 72nd following a 163.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
