Davidson Cothran joined the Trojan Athletics Department as an Assistant A.D. for Sports Marketing and Event Management in May, 2019.
Cothran graduated from Anderson in May, 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a concentration in digitial media. The Anderson, S.C. native was already familiar with the Black and Gold after working in the athletics department during his undergraduate days. He served on the game crew/event staff and assumed a high level of responsibility and commitment in several areas, most notably with the Trojans’ video streaming.
“We are excited to welcome Davidson back to the Trojan Family,” said Dr. Bert Epting, Jr., Vice-President for Athletics at the time. “As an alum of AU, I am excited to see him bring his first-hand athletics knowledge on board as we continue to grow and develop our athletics marketing and our event experience for all those who attend our Trojan competitions.”
Cothran now oversees marketing for all sports at AU, along with the development and implementation of a marketing and communication plan. He provides support materials and services for all sports in the area of marketing, communications, creative content, branding, and public relations.
“I want to thank Dr. Epting and the entire Anderson University family for giving me this incredible opportunity.” said Cothran. “Anderson University is such a special place, and they invested so much in me during my four years of undergrad. It is truly a dream come true to be able to invest back into the University I love through athletics. Anderson has such a storied and rich history of excellence in athletics, so I can’t wait to be able to help us take the next step and tell new stories as we continue to grow and excel in athletics.”
Davidson and his wife, Caroline, reside in Anderson and attend Newspring Church.
