Cronin and Borda Named Jimmy John’s Athletes of the Week

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University men's tennis sophomore Patrick Cronin and women's sophomore Valentina Borda have been named the Jimmy John's Athletes of the Week, for the week ending on March 26th.

Cronin, came up huge for the Trojans in their away match at Lenoir-Rhyne. He was inserted into the lineup late, due to a teammates illness and he earned a point for the Black and Gold to help Anderson win on the road, 4-3. Following his stellar play in that match, Cronin played in the doubles and singles portion of the next match versus Mars Hill, helping AU earn two points in the, 4-3, victory over Mars Hill.

Borda, won both of her doubles matches and singles matches to help lead the Trojans to, 5-2, wins over Lenoir-Rhyne and Mars Hill. Her solid play all season has helped land Anderson in the ITA rankings (No. 20) for the first time in program history.

Each week, one male and one female student-athlete are honored as the Jimmy John's Athlete of the Week for his or her performance in competition, in the classroom, or in the community.
