No. 33 Trojans Cruise Past UVA Wise; 7-0

WISE, VA. – The No. 33 Anderson Trojans (12-1, 8-1 SAC) knocked off the UVA Wise Cavaliers (9-9, 0-7 SAC) by a 7-0 score on Saturday. The Trojans came out strong and didn't look back, winning all 10 matches without dropping a set.

With the win, AU notched their 8th road win of the season, a program-best since the 2019-20 season. UVA Wise's losing streak extended to six straight matches in the loss.

"The guys played great in this one," said AU Head Coach Joey Eskridge. "Spencer and Patrick won a good one at number two doubles and Julian and Heima did a great job at number three doubles. Juan and Greyson teamed up for the first time and dominated at number one doubles. In singles the boys played fantastic. They did not drop a set. Heima came off the bench and won both singles and doubles today. It was a great team win today on the road!"

The Black and Gold featured a new doubles lineup in the win. Sophomore Juan Sengariz and junior Greyson Doscotch teamed for a 6-1 win at No. 1 to start. A 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot from seniors Julian Kenzlers and Heimanarii Lai San clinched the point for AU. The sweep was completed by senior Spencer Snow and sophomore Patrick Cronin after they took their set in a tiebreak, 7-6(3).

AU started strong in singles as well. Sengariz denied his opponent a comeback, winning 6-1, 7-6(3) at No. 1. Doscotch and Kenzlers were next with straight set victories to clinch the win. Kenzlers bounced back from a 5-1 first-set deficit to rattle off 12 of 13 games, and take a 7-6(4), 6-0 win.

With the bottom three positions in the singles to play, AU notched a trio of victories. Lai San scored an 8-1 win at the sixth spot to make the score 5-0. Cronin recorded a convincing 6-2, 6-0 win of his own at No. 5 for another point. Snow closed things out by winning 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.
