ANDERSON, S.C. – The No. 33 Anderson Trojans (12-2, 8-2 SAC) were handed a 5-2 loss at the hands of No. 27 Tusculum (12-4, 8-0 SAC) on Tuesday afternoon. The defeat snapped a four-match winning streak for AU, and extended Tusculum's winning streak to seven matches.

In the doubles, the Pioneers were able to take all three matches, though by tight scores. The Trojans dropped the doubles point for only the third time this season.

Going into singles with a 1-0 lead, Tusculum struck first with a victory at No. 1. Sophomore Juan Sengariz was leading by a set and 4-0 when his opponent could not continue due to an injury. The point cut the Tusculum lead to 2-1. 

Following another Pioneer win at No. 4, AU's Julian Kenzlers closed out his match with a comeback at the end of the 2nd set to win 6-3, 7-6(7).

Following the lead being cut to 3-2, Tusculum took the final pair of matches to clinch the match and conclude play.

UP NEXT

AU has a quick turnaround to host the No. 6-ranked Columbus State Cougars on Thursday. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Trojan Tennis Complex.
