Men’s Tennis Ranked No. 33 Nationally, Women’s Tennis Comes In At No. 21

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson men's tennis comes in at No. 33, while AU's women's team ranks at No. 21 in the Division II ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings from March 29th, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Wednesday. On the men's side, AU comes in as the 2nd-highest ranked team in the South Atlantic Conference, behind No. 27 Tusculum. The Trojans are 11-1 thus far this season, including a 7-1 SAC record. The women have posted the same 11-1 overall record, while going 6-1 in conference. In the women's national rankings, the Trojans come in 2nd in the SAC behind No. 12 Newberry.

 

Men's Opponents In The Rankings

The Trojans' men's team are scheduled to do battle with 3 currently ranked teams:

  • No. 6 Columbus State at home, April 6, 2:00 p.m
  • No. 27 Tusculum at home, April 4, 2:00 p.m.
  • No. 36 Wingate on the road, April 14, 2:00 p.m.

AU has also faced two teams who are currently ranked:

  • Won versus No. 46 Limestone 4-3 on March 28th
  • Lost to No. 37 Carson-Newman 6-1 on March 18th

 

Women's Opponents In The Rankings

The women's team is scheduled for 2 matchups against ranked opponents themselves. 

  • No. 26 Wingate on the road, April 14, 2:00 p.m.
  • No. 41 Columbus State at home, April 6, 2:00 p.m

The Trojans have also faced a pair of teams who are currently ranked:

  • Won versus No. 33 Erskine 4-3 on February 18th
  • Lost to No. 12 Newberry 5-2 on February 26th

 

Individuals In The Rankings

  • Sophomore Mariam Bayatyan comes in at No. 64 in the rankings, after posting a 10-1  record split between the top three singles positions.

 

UP NEXT

Both teams travel to Wise, Virginia to do battle with the UVA Wise Cavaliers on Saturday, April 1st. Both matches will start at 2:00 p.m.
