Harrogate, Tenn. – The #22 Anderson Trojans (7-0, 3-0 SAC) continued their road dominance on Sunday against the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters (7-5, 0-1 SAC). AU notched their 5th straight road win in conference play, and 14th straight win in the regular season overall.
"Great win on the road," said AU Head Coach Joey Eskridge. "LMU is always hard to beat, especially at home, so for us to win 6-1 at their place was great. Go Trojans!"
The Trojans won their 7th straight doubles point to open play. After LMU took a victory on court 2, AU battled back. Philip Olsson and Chambers Easterling moved to 3-0 as a team with a 6-2 win at No. 3. With the doubles point hanging in the balance, the No. 1 pair of Greyson Doscotch and Aaron Cabo came up clutch, winning 7-6 in a tight 8-6 tiebreaker.
With the doubles point in hand, AU continued their success in singles. Despite a Railsplitter victory at the No. 2 position, AU rallied to win the final five singles matches. Julian Kenzlers tallied another win at No. 4 singles, winning 6-4, 7-5. With AU up 2-1 as a team, Chambers Easterling and Juan Sengariz helped clinch the match, each with straight set victories at No. 6 and No. 1, respectively.
Two more wins from AU after the match had been clinched made for a strong finish. Greyson Doscotch competed in another third-set battle, and came out with a hard-fought 2-6, 7-6(7), 1-0(8) victory. Aaron Cabo notched a 7-6(6), 6-2 win to make the final team score 6-1.
UP NEXT
The Trojans host a midweek match on Wednesday, March 15th against the Coker Cobras. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Trojan Tennis Complex. AU will aim to continue their 11-match home winning streak.
