No. 28 Trojans Host No. 37 Limestone Tuesday

ANDERSON, S.C. – The No. 28 Anderson Trojans (10-1, 5-1 SAC) return home to host the No.37 Limestone Saints (6-5, 4-2 SAC) on Tuesday. AU took down Mars Hill on the road in their last match, after having their 12-match home winning streak snapped by Carson-Newman. The Trojans look to start a new home winning streak, while Limestone aims to win their third consecutive road match.

WHAT'S AT STAKE

For Anderson:

  • A 3rd straight home win over Limestone
  • A win would give AU its' 9th straight 11-win season under head coach Joey Eskridge
  • A win would keep AU at the No. 3 spot in the SAC standings

For Limestone:

  • A 3rd straight road win
  • A win would solidify the Saints' spot at No. 5 in the SAC standings

LAST TIME OUT

The Trojans were victorious last Friday at Mars Hill, 4-3. After taking a tight doubles point, AU scored victories at No. 1, 2, and 6 to clinch the match. 

Sophomore Juan Sengariz and senior Julian Kenzlers moved to 7-1 as a doubles team for the season en route to clinching the doubles portion of play. In singles, Sengariz added another win to his strong 9-2 singles record on the season, winning 6-2, 6-0 for the final Trojan point. 

COUNTDOWN TO 50

Senior Aaron Cabo enters play with 49 career victories in SAC play, including 29 in singles and 20 in doubles. All three marks lead the current Trojan team. This season, the Valencia, Spain native has posted 6 singles wins in addition to 5 doubles victories. Coming off of a win at No. 1 doubles with partner Greyson Doscotch against Mars Hill, Cabo aims to reach another milestone.

A LOOK AT LIMESTONE

  • Limestone enters the matchup with AU off of a 6-1 win over UVA Wise in their most recent match.
  • The Saints have not recorded a win over a currently ranked team, but did beat then-No. 39 Edinboro by a 5-2 score on March 9th.
  • In singles, Limestone has had success, especially at the No. 5 spot. Three different players have combined for a 7-4 record at the position.
  • In doubles, graduate student Diego Arzaluz and freshman Ramiro Rincon Hernandez have stood out at the No. 2 spot, recording an impressive 8-1 record on the season.

UP NEXT

The Trojans travel to Wise, Va. on Saturday for an April Fools' Day matchup with UVA Wise. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. on April 1.
