Men’s, Women’s Tennis Nationally Ranked No. 31 and 26

ANDERSON, S.C. – The AU men's and women's programs achieved top 35 national rankings on Wednesday. The men's team comes in at No. 31, while the women slot in at No. 26. Though both teams suffered losses at the hands of Tusculum on Tuesday, both place highly in the SAC conference standings.

On the men's side, the Trojans currently sit in third place in the SAC, with a 12-2 overall record, and 8-2 conference mark. For the women, they are in fourth place, with a record of 13-2, and an identical 8-2 record in SAC play. 

Men's Opponents In The Rankings

The Trojans' men's team have a pair of ranked opponents remaining on their schedule:

  • No. 6 Columbus State at home, April 6, 2:00 p.m
  • No. 23 Wingate on the road, April 14, 2:00 p.m.

 

AU has a 1-2 record against currently ranked teams:

  • Won versus No. 50 Limestone 4-3 on March 28th
  • Lost to No. 43 Carson-Newman 6-1 on March 18th
  • Lost to No. 30 Tusculum 5-2 on April 4th

 

Women's Opponents In The Rankings

The women's team is scheduled for 3 matchups against ranked opponents themselves. 

  • No. 15 Wingate on the road, April 14, 2:00 p.m.
  • No. 32 Columbus State at home, April 6, 2:00 p.m
  • No. 33 Catawba at home, April 12, time TBA

 

The Trojans have gone 2-2 against currently ranked opponents:

  • Won versus No. 34 Erskine 4-3 on February 18th
  • Won versus No. 45 Lenoir-Rhyne 5-2 on March 20th
  • Lost to No. 10 Newberry 5-2 on February 26th
  • Lost to No. 47 Tusculum 6-1 on April 5th

 

UP NEXT

Both teams play host to nationally-ranked Columbus State on Thursday, April 6th. Match time is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Trojan Tennis Complex.
