Men’s Tennis Travels To North Greenville On Thursday

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson men's tennis (2-0) will hit the road to take on another Conference Carolinas opponent, North Greenville (0-1) on Thursday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vance Tennis Complex. The Trojans are 11-4 in series history, with the last five matches being played at North Greenville.

Last Time Out

AU took on Emmanuel in their home opener, scoring a quick 4-0 sweep over the Lions at the AU Tennis Complex. Sophomore Juan Sengariz and Junior Philip Olsson had standout performances in the win. Sengariz made quick work of his opponent at No. 1 singles, 6-0; 6-0, while also scoring a 6-3 doubles win with Senior Julian Kenzlers. Olsson won 6-2; 6-1 at No. 2 singles after cruising to a 6-2 win in doubles with Sophomore Greyson Doscotch.

 

Last Time vs. NGU

The Trojans and Crusaders last met on October 15, 2019 in Greenville, with the match ending in a 6-1 AU victory. AU took the doubles point with ease, winning 2 matches by 6-0 scores. In singles, the Trojans took care of business, winning 5 of the 6 singles matches, including 2 wins by 6-0; 6-0 decisions.

 

Scouting the Crusaders

North Greenville will be playing in their 3rd match of the season, after taking a loss against Mars Hill in their opener. The Crusaders traveled to play at Lander University on Monday, October 17th prior to facing Anderson.

New head coach Kylie Kuykendall inherits a team that posted an 4-12 overall record last season, including a 4-6 mark in Conference Carolinas play. NGU lost their 2022 fall opener at home on October 4th against Mars Hill, 5-2. After Mars Hill took the doubles point, the Crusaders went 2-4 in singles, with victories at No. 2 and No. 6, both in close 3rd-set tiebreakers.

The lineup includes 4 returning starters from singles, including seniors Tuur Vos and Kyle Praschan, along with sophomores Lucas Cardoso and Anthony Cassini. Cardoso scored a 3rd-set tiebreak win over Mars Hill in the season opener.

Up Next

Anderson begins their spring season on Saturday, February 4th with a road trip to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Converse. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m.
