ANDERSON, S.C. – The No. 36 Anderson Trojans (14-4, 9-3 SAC) finished off their regular-season schedule with a 6-1 win over USC Sumter (4-9). The Trojans came out firing, finishing the season with a 6-3 home record to go with an 8-1 road record.
The Trojans began play by taking the doubles point. Greyson Doscotch and Aaron Cabo cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 1, before USC Sumter answered with a win at No. 2. With the point to be decided at the No. 3 position, Spencer Snow and Patrick Cronin were victorious 7-5.
In the singles, USC Sumter took the first point at No. 1, but AU was able to bounce back with straight set wins at the other five positions. Snow's 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 and Julian Kenzlers' 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 gave the Trojans a 3-1 lead. Cronin surged past his opponent at No. 5 with an identical 6-2, 6-2 win to clinch the team match.
After the clinching point, the Black and Gold finished strong at No. 2 and No. 6. Doscotch took his match 6-3, 6-3 before Heimanarii Lai San closed out the win, also by the same score.
UP NEXT
The Trojans travel to Sumter, S.C. for the SAC Tournament. Play begins Thursday at 2:00 p.m. when No. 4 seed AU takes on No. 5 seed and No. 46-ranked Limestone.
