Men’s Tennis Picked Tied For Second In The South Atlantic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll; Five Trojans Earn Preseason Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson University men's tennis team has been picked to finish tied for second in the South Atlantic Conference Coaches' Poll, while five Trojans earn preseason All-SAC honors, released on Friday.

Tusculum has been picked first with five first-place votes and 130 total points. Knotted up with Anderson (5 first place votes) at second is Wingate with three first place votes and 128 points. Carson-Newman was ranked fourth in the poll with 105 points, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne with 102 points. Lincoln Memorial was slotted sixth with 88 points, while Limestone was voted No. 7 with 79 points. Newberry came in at No. 8 with 60 points, followed by Catawba at No. 9 with 57 points.

Coker took the No.10 spot with 56 points and at No. 11 was Mars Hill with 42 points. UVA Wise placed twelfth with 25 points, while Emory & Henry rounded out the poll at No. 13 with 14 points.

Senior Aaron Cabo was selected to the preseason All-SAC Second Team – Doubles. Cabo posted a 14-9 overall record and 7-5 SAC record in doubles action in 2022 while earning SAC Third Team Doubles.

Junior Greyson Doscotch was selected both to the preseason All-SAC Third Team – Doubles and Singles. Doscotch posted a 10-11 overall and 5-6 SAC doubles record and posted an 8-12 overall and 5-6 SAC singles record, earned SAC Third Team Singles and Doubles a season ago.

Sophomore Juan Sengariz was selected both to the preseason All-SAC Second Team -Doubles and First Team – Singles. Sengariz posted a 19-4 overall and 10-1 SAC singles record, while posting an 18-5 overall and 11-1 SAC doubles record earning SAC Second Team Singles during his freshman year campaign.

Senior Julian Kenzlers was selected both to the preseason All-SAC Third Team – Singles and to the Second Team – Singles. Kenzlers posted a 14-8 overall and 8-3 SAC record in singles action, while posting a 17-6 overall and 11-1 SAC record in doubles play.

Junior Philip Olsson was selected to the All-SAC Third Team – Singles after posting a 3-0 record during fall action. Olsson anchors the No. 2 slot for the Trojans.

Anderson opens up its 2023 season when it travels to nonconference opponent Converse on Feb. 4th. First-Serve is slated for 1 pm.
