MARS HILL, N.C. – The No. 28 Anderson Trojans (10-1, 6-1 SAC) scored another road win in a 4-3 victory over the Mars Hill Lions (4-9, 2-4 SAC) on Friday afternoon at the Hart Tennis Complex. AU took all three doubles matches before securing the match with a trio of singles wins.
"The guys competed hard today," said AU Head Coach Joey Eskridge. "Aaron Cabo didn't play at No. 4 singles so we had our bench come in again and win the match for us. Patrick Cronin won a huge match at 6. So did Greyson [Doscotch] and Juan [Sengariz], which gave us the match. It's always good to win on the road and in conference. We look forward to doing it again next week."
The Black and Gold came out strong with a doubles sweep. The No. 1 team of Greyson Doscotch and Aaron Cabo took a tight 6-4 win to begin play. To clinch the point, Juan Sengariz and Julian Kenzlers prevailed in a 7-5 battle at No. 2. Spencer Snow and Patrick Cronin delivered a 7-6 victory at the No. 3 spot and closed out the sweep.
In the singles, AU quickly notched three wins to lead 4-0 and clinch the win. Doscotch started things off the right way, putting up a straight set win to make it 2-0 Trojans. Cronin was next at No. 6, winning 6-2, 7-6(4). A decisive 6-2, 6-0 win from Sengariz at No. 1 proved to be too much for the Lions.
Following the clinch, Mars Hill took the final three matches to make the final score 4-3 in favor of AU. The win marked the Trojans' 13th consecutive victory over Mars Hill, and their 7th straight road win in SAC play.
