Trojans Set to Play in NCAA Tournament

ANDERSON, S.C. - Anderson University women's basketball is set to square off against No.1 Columbus State on Friday after receiving an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament at host site Columbus State's Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center.

The Trojans will meet No. 1 Columbus State for just the third time in program history. The two previous meeting resulted in wins for Anderson with the latest coming as a 71-53 upset in the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament. The Trojans and Cougars also met in 2010 in an early season tournament with the Black and Gold claiming a 58-50 victory.

Anderson is coming off of its third straight 20-win season. The Black and Gold have been led by four All-SAC selections, headlined by SAC Freshman Player of the Year choice Alexy Mollenhauer. In 26 games played, Mollenhauer averaged 11.5 points and 3.9 rebounds, highlighted by a career-high 28 points against SAC regular season champion Lincoln Memorial.

Mollenhauer was joined by senior guard Heather Jankowy, graduate student Jasmine Franklin and freshman Madison Baggett landing on the Second Team, Honorable Mention Team and All-Freshman Team, respectively.

Every game of the Southeast Regional will be played at Columbus St's Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center, as the Cougars earned the No. 1 seed after claiming the Peach Belt Tournament this past weekend. The Cougars enter the tournament ranked No. 4 nationally and boasts a 28-1 overall record.

Anderson matches up with the winner of Lander/Limestone should it win its quarterfinal game. The Trojans' NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal game against Columbus State is set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center.
