Trojans Receive Bid to the NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS - Despite Anderson University women's basketball's setback in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament quarterfinal round on Wednesday, the Trojans received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament as they earned the No. 8 seed and will square off with the No. 1 seed and host Columbus St. on Friday, announced by the committee on Sunday evening.

Two other South Atlantic Conference teams will also represent in the region, as Wingate earned the No. 2 seed as an automatic bid with the SAC tournament championship win earlier in the day over Lincoln Memorial. Despite the loss in the finals, the Railsplitter's stellar regular season was enough to earn an at-large bid with a No. 3 ranking and will face Peach Belt opponent No. 6 Clayton St.

Conference Carolinas tournament champion King (Tenn.), earned the No. 7 seed and will square off against the Bulldogs, while CC rival Limestone took the No. 4 seed and will matchup with No. 5 Lander in the opening round.

Every game of the Southeast Regional will be played at Columbus St's Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center, as the Cougars earned the No. 1 seed after claiming the Peach Belt Tournament this past weekend. The Cougars enter the tournament ranked No. 4 nationally and boasts a 28-1 overall record.

In 2015, Anderson upset No. 2 ranked Columbus St.; 71-53 in the regional semi-finals. Overall, the berth into the NCAA Tournament is the eleventh trip in program history with the Trojans looking to improve on their 9-10 all-time record in the annual tournament.
