Women’s Basketball picked T-21st in the WBCA Preseason Poll

LILBURN, Ga. - After closing the 2015-16 season with a SAC regular season championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament, Anderson University women's basketball was positioned in the No. 21 spot in the Preseason WBCA Poll, recently announced by the Association.

The Trojans were ranked No. 25 in the WBCA Poll in the final week of the 2015-16 season after claiming a 67-62 victory over Lincoln Memorial while dropping their final regular season game to Wingate, 73-62.

Within the 2016-17 WBCA Preseason Poll, Anderson is the lone representative from the South Atlantic Conference and one of three teams from the Southeast Region in the top 25. Limestone earned the No. 7 spot after closing the year with a 30-1 overall record, while Lander landed T-21 following its NCAA Tournament appearance. Outside the top 25, Francis Marion was the only regional opponent that was receiving votes.

The preseason recognition continues for the Black and Gold, as they were ranked T-5th in the D2SIDA preseason Southeast Region Media Poll, while also being picked by the league's coaches to finish second in the annual Preseason SAC Coaches' Poll. In addition to the conference's preseason poll, standouts Heather Jankowy, Jasmine Franklin and Alexis Dillard were named to the preseason all-conference teams, as Jankowy landed on the first team while Franklin and Dillard claimed a spot on the second team.

The Trojans begin the 2016-17 season on Friday when it travels to Savannah, Ga. for the PBC-SAC Challenge to square off against Clayton State. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
