Trojans Move into Top Eight in NCAA Southeast Regional Poll

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA released its third and final regional rankings Wednesday afternoon with Anderson University moving up to the seventh slot, after appearing in last week's poll in the No. 9 hole, in the Southeast Region with a 21-5 overall record against Division II competition.

The selection committee uses these rankings as a guideline to make up the NCAA Tournament field. The top eight teams in the region make the NCAA Tournament with three automatic bids going to the winners of the conference tournaments from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt Conference.

Columbus State holds claim to the No. 1 spot with Clayton State moving up one spot to No. 2 with Lincoln Memorial slipping to the third position. Lander replaced Wingate in the fifth slot while Wingate fell to No. 6. Anderson moved two positions to the No. 7 spot. The Trojans push King and Mount Olive to the No. 8 and No. 9 slots, respectively. SAC member Carson-Newman moved into top 10 after being out of the rankings a week ago.

Anderson shook the poll up just a bit with a road win over previously ranked No. 2 Lincoln Memorial and a home victory over No. 5 Wingate to end regular season play.

The NCAA Selection Show will be held Sunday night at 10 p.m on NCAA.com.
