Women’s Basketball Releases 2016-17 Schedule

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University first year head coach Jonathon Barbaree announced his 2016-17 schedule on Wednesday, which features three games against teams that reached the NCAA Tournament.

"I'm really excited about this year's team and this year's schedule," said Barbaree.

The 2016-17 season will begin with a rematch of the Trojans first round opponent in the NCAA Tournament, Clayton State. The Trojans defeated the Lakers 80-56 advancing them on to the round of 32.

"The non-conference schedule should prepare us for our competitive conference schedule, especially opening with two schools from the Peach Belt Conference followed by playing two local schools with one being our rival," added Barbaree.

The Black and Gold closed the 2015-16 season with a 23-7 overall record while winning its second straight regular season South Atlantic Conference championship. Anderson reached the SAC Tournament for the second year in a row before falling to Wingate. The Trojans earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament making it their ninth berth in program history.

Anderson will play on the road for five of its first six contests with the lone home game during that span being against rival Erskine when the Trojans welcome them to the Abney Center in mid-November.
