Rock Hill, S.C. – Anderson University women's basketball freshman guard Alexy Mollenhauer was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for games played Feb. 20-26, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Mollenhauer fueled the Trojan offense with 25 points per game as Anderson picked up a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week to earn the No. 2 in seed in this week's SAC Women's Basketball Championship.
The Lindale, Texas native got her week going with 28 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks and four assists in Anderson's 76-73 win at No. 9 Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 22. In the last 1:20 of play vs. the Railsplitters, Mollenhauer nailed a triple to break a 69-69 tie and converted a jumper with 40 seconds left to push the Trojan advantage to 74-70. Three days later against Wingate, Mollenhauer stayed hot with 22 points to go along with nine rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. The honor marks her first Player of the Week selection this season.
The Trojans will host a SAC quarterfinal round when they welcome Catawba on Wednesday. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
