Women’s Basketball Signs Two for 2017-18 Season

ANDERSON, S.C.-Anderson University women's basketball head coach Jonathon Barbaree has announced the signing of a pair of prep standouts for 2017-18 during the early signing period, as Taylor Hair and Alexis Tate have signed letters of intent to play for the Black and Gold, announced by Barbaree on Friday.

Hair (Orlando, Fla. / Olympia H.S.) and Tate (Auburn, Ala. / Auburn H.S.) joins the Trojans who currently boast five seniors on their roster.

Name: Taylor Hair
Position: C
Height: 6-0
Hometown: Orlando, Florida
High School: Olympia High School

Hair served as a three-year captain for Olympia. During Hair's sophomore season she led the team in rebounds and blocks while holding the best free throw percentage her junior season.

Barbaree on Hair: "Taylor brings us size that is going to help with the graduation of both Alexis Dillard and Bailey Sims. She is an athletic post player that can run the floor, rebound and score inside and out. We are excited to add Taylor to the AU family next season."

Name: Alexis Tate
Position: F
Height: 5-10
Hometown: Auburn, Alabama
High School: Auburn High School

Tate shined throughout her prep career, as she was named youth of the year for Auburn and Opelika for three years. Tate was named to the All-Area Regional team for both basketball and volleyball. For Auburn, Tate averaged 9.9 points per game, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 steals.

Barbaree on Tate: "Really excited about adding Alexis to the family. She's a strong physical athletic player that can both face up to score and back you down. She is working hard by extending her game out to the three-point line and will come right in and help fill some of the scoring that we will lose after this season."

Anderson is coming off a 2015-16 season where it claimed its third conference regular-season championship in four seasons. In the postseason, the Trojans advanced to the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.
