Jankowy, Franklin, Mollenhauer and Baggett Earn Postseason SAC Women’s Basketball Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. –Following its third straight 20 plus win regular season, Anderson University women's basketball added postseason honors hardware, headlined by freshman guard Alexy Mollenhauer's Freshman Player of the Year honor, while Heather Jankowy, Jasmine Franklin, Madison Baggett and Mollenhauer landed on the All-SAC Second Team, Honorable Mention and All-Freshman list respectively, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.

"We are very proud of our team this year and their efforts all season," said head coach Jonathon Barbaree. "What's been unique about this team is that someone different has stepped up every game. With that said it's rewarding to see that the other coaches have recognized how hard some of our players have worked and rewarded them with an all-conference selection. We are extremely proud of each of these young ladies."

"Heather and Jasmine are amazing and they are the foundation of what our program is all about," added Barbaree. "They not only get it done on the court but off the court as well and have been our rock all season long. They have also been great leaders and mentors to our other two honorees, our freshman. Alexy and Madison were outstanding for us this year and they both had to step in right away and play with a veteran's mentality and they did just that. I'm looking forward to what the future holds for both of them and this program."

Mollenhauer becomes the third Trojan in program history and first since joining the SAC in 2010 to earn Freshman of the Year award after former standouts Leann Segers (2002-2003) and LaShonda Chiles (2003-2004) claimed the honor for the Black and Gold.

The Lindale, Texas native posted four 20-point games for the Trojans and has notched double-digits in scoring in 16 contests for Anderson this season. Mollenhauer recorded her first career double-double with a career-high 28 points and 10 rebounds while adding a career-high five blocked shots against league leading Lincoln Memorial. During the same week, Mollenhauer poured in 22 points while grabbing nine rebounds against Wingate. For her efforts, Mollenhauer was named to her first AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week to end the regular season. The freshman guard is currently averaging 11.2 points per outing which ranks third among the Trojans. Mollenhauer currently ranks No. 6 in the SAC in blocks per game with 1.2 as she has totaled 30 on the season.

All-SAC Second Team honoree, Jankowy, has been the floor leader for the Black and Gold. On the year, Jankowy ranks first in the SAC in free throw percentage (88.2), ranks eighth in assists per game with 3.2 and tenth in 3-point percentage (38.9) for the Trojans. The Walhalla, S.C. native has earned two AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week honors with the first coming in mid- December and the second in mid -February. Jankowy recently became the 12th player in AU's program history to score 1000 points. The senior guard also ranks fourth all-time in career made 3-pointers (204) and seventh all-time in career assists (309).

Honorable mention honoree, Franklin has played a key role in the success of the Trojans over her career and especially this year. Franklin has recorded five double-doubles while averaging a team-high 11.8 points per game and a team-best 7.2 rebounds per game.

The native from Simpsonville, S.C. scored a career-high 24 points twice while ripping down a career-high 13 rebounds against Queens on Dec. 3. Franklin is currently sixth on the Trojans' all-time career offensive rebound list with a total of 280 rebounds and ranks eleventh on the all-time career rebound list with a total of 557.

All-Freshman honoree, Baggett has been instrumental for the Black and Gold this season. Baggett has started 23-of-27 contests while averaging 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game from the point guard position. The native from Huntsville, Ala. ranks fourth in the SAC in 3-point percentage (45.6) while ranking 15th in field goal percentage (47.9) for Anderson.

Baggett has scored a career-high 22 points twice while grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds three times throughout the season. Baggett's stellar freshman year was highlighted by a triple-double (15 pts-10 rbs- 10 ast) she recorded in a home win against Carson-Newman on Feb. 9. The recorded triple-double was only the third in program history with Baggett becoming only the second player to achieve the feat.

Anderson is currently ranked No. 7 in the NCAA Southeast Region rankings and looks to reach the NCAA Tournament with an at-large bid. The NCAA Selection show will be aired at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.
