DURANGO, Colo. – The Anderson University women's basketball was slotted tied for fifth in the Preseason Southeast Region Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, announced by the regional committee on Monday.
Anderson is the second highest rated team from the South Atlantic Conference and is one of three teams from the SAC to reach the top-10. Wingate landed in the third position, while Newberry claimed the ninth spot.
Limestone, which was eliminated from the postseason by Francis Marion received six first place votes to earn the top spot, while defending Peach Belt Conference champion, Lander, finished in the second spot. Francis Marion finished fourth, while Columbus State landed tied for fifth with the Trojans. Augusta State which eliminated Anderson from the postseason is seventh while Clayton State ranks eighth to close out the PBC representatives. Mount Olive slides into the 10th spot to bookend the poll for Conference Carolinas
The Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, is in its third year of existence. The regional poll will be released every Monday, followed by the national poll every Tuesday. Each region has six representatives that comprise the regional poll. The national poll has 16 voters - 2 from each region.
Anderson opens up its regular season play on Friday at the 2016 PBC-SAC Challenge against Clayton State. Tip-off from Savannah, Ga. is scheduled for 5 p.m.
