Trojans and Cougars Square off in Exhibition Contest

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Anderson University volleyball team traveled to Charleston, Thursday afternoon to square off against the College of Charleston in exhibition action, with the Cougars claiming four of the five sets (25-20, 25-15, 25-15, 13-25, 27-25) from the Trojans at TD Arena.

"It was a great experience to be able to start our season at the College of Charleston," said Anderson head coach Todd Hay. "We are very thankful for the opportunity Coach Kepner and his team provided for us. We definitely saw areas that need a lot of work and some things we were able to get corrected during the match. I was glad that each player was able to see action in at least two sets and gain some valuable experience. We now look forward to playing at home this Saturday."

The Cougars, who were picked fourth in Wednesday's 2021 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Coaches' Poll, returned all but two members of last season's squad.

The South Atlantic Conference is scheduled to release its' preseason coaches' poll, along with the preseason All-SAC selections, on Tuesday.

AU will open its regular season on Sept. 3 at Angelo State's Kathleen Brasfield Invitational, with the Trojans facing East Central Oklahoma and Northwest Oklahoma before meeting the host Rambelles and Texas A&M – Kingsville on Sept. 4.
