ANDERSON, S.C. - The Tusculum Pioneers erased a three stroke deficit following the opening day of action to win the Anderson Invitational Men's Golf Tournament in a one-hole playoff with Pfeiffer Tuesday afternoon at the par 71, 6,402 yard Anderson Country Club in Anderson.

Anderson sliced 10 strokes off its opening round, but was unable to gain ground on the other teams in the tourney, with freshman Austin Carney (77-74=151) shaving three shots from day one and Sean Shelton (82-75=157) moving from a share of 38th to a tie for 35th. Freshman Aaron Setro (80-83=163) slipped to 44th , with sophomore Chase Epting carding his second consecutive 82 and newcomer Michael Marcagi posting an 86 to close in 49th with a total 171.

Under blue skies and with the temperature hovering in the low 90s, Lincoln Memorial (293-294=587) opened Tuesday's final round with a narrow three-shot edge over both Tusculum (296-290=586) and Wingate (296-295=591), but led by Luke Fallon and Nick York, the Pioneers shaved a combined six-strokes off their first round score to force the playoff with Pfeiffer.

The Falcons closed the first round eight shots off the pace, but trimmed an impressive 16 strokes off Monday's first round, as Garrett Dranichak notched an 11-shot improvement from his first round effort.

Lincoln Memorial junior Eric Kennedy (68-71=139) entered the final round with a three-shot edge and slipped three shots, but held off teammate Cory Talley (72-72=144) and St. Andrews Presbyterian's Michael Latham (72-72=144) to claim the individual title by two strokes.
