CONCORD, N.C. -- The Anderson University men's golf team is in fifth place after the first round of the Charlotte Shootout at the Rocky River Golf Club Monday. Host Belmont Abbey is the leader after the first round of the 13-team event at 298. Carson-Newman is second at 299, Lenior-Rhyne is third at 303, and North Greenville is fourth at 307. Clay Williamson was Anderson's medalist in the first round with a 74. Anderson's other scores were Adam Sheriff 76, Kirk Owings 77, and Ryan Sprayberry 82. The individual leader are the first round is Jason Fox of Lenior-Rhyne with 69. The second round will be played Tuesday.
