Trojans Fall Back Into Fifth At Regional

GREENSBORO, Ga. -- The Anderson College men's golf team dropped back a spot in the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Tuesday at the Harbor Club at Lake Oconee. The Trojans shot a 314 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 625 and dropped into fifth place, eight shots behind fourth-place Belmont Abbey. CVAC champion Pfeiffer continues to lead, but the Falcons' lead was trimmed in the second round. Pfeiffer shot a 303 in the second round and lost ground to second-place Barton (300) and third-place Coker (299). Pfeiffer is at 600 after two rounds, followed by Barton at 605 and Coker at 610. Pfeiffer's Andrew McArthur (70-71) continues to lead the individual competition. His lead entering the final round is five shots over Kent Cherry of Belmont Abbey. For the second consecutive day, Kyle Owings led AC. Owings shot a 76 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 153. AC's other three scores in the second round were Denton Moore 78, Brad Eskierka 79, and Jon Hines and Jon Ferguson, who both shot 81. The final round will be played on Wednesday.
