Hudson Named Anderson University Cheer Coach

ANDERSON, S.C. – Anderson University Director of Athletics, Dr. Bert Epting, Jr. on Monday announced that Easley High School coach and former AU cheerleader, Lauren Hudson, has been named the head cheerleading coach for the Trojans.

"We are so excited to welcome Coach Hudson to the Trojan Family," said Epting. "She has great experience in building and sustaining a cheerleading program and we are excited to see her lead this program to new and greater heights. Go Trojans!"

The three-time Region Coach of the Year has more than 10 years of head coaching experience at nearly every level and has led the Green Wave to four consecutive state final appearances (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), while claiming the Regional Championship twice – in 2019 and 2020.

Hudson guided Easley to the 2020 4A Upper State Championship, with the Green Wave being named a 4A Top-3 State Finalist.

On top of her varsity coaching duties at EHS, she also serves as the All-Star Cheer – Half Season Program Director and Coach, where she mentors two squads totaling 60 student-athletes. Hudson, along with the staff, led one of the teams to the 2021 Mountain Nationals Senior Grand Championship.

Since 2018 Hudson has served as the secretary and bookkeeper for the Green Wave's wide-ranging and decorated athletics program, which encompasses more than 800 student-athletes.

"I am thankful to God and the Athletic Administration for the tremendous opportunity to be reunited with AU Cheer," said Hudson. "Anderson is a special place to me and I understand how important this team is to the student-athletes. I am looking forward to leading a program that is on the rise and continuing to increase the level of success in years to come."

Following her time in the Electric City, Hudson served as an assistant coach at Eastside, then led the Liberty High School cheerleading squad from 2013-2015. During her tenure with the Red Devils, they finished as 2A State Runners-Up in back-to-back seasons (2013 and 2014) and were a 2A State Finalist in 2015.

She is a member of the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association and the South Carolina Cheer Coaches Association and served as a Cheer Limited National Certified Judge in 2010.

Hudson received her bachelor's degree from Anderson University in 2010.
