HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Anderson University baseball team stretched its win streak to three games with an 11-2 win, but suffered a 4-3 setback to Coker in non-conference doubleheader action Saturday afternoon at Tom J. New Field.
Anderson moved to 3-4 with the split, while Coker had its two-game win streak snapped in the opener and slipped to 3-5 overall.
Game #1
Anderson 11, Coker 2
Sophomore Zach Reeves went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a single and drove in three runs, while junior Erick Sanderson ripped a pair of doubles and a single in five at-bats. He also scored twice and drove in a pair of runs. Sophomore Shawn Delmontagne finished 2-for-3 and scored three times and Brett Scarberry continued with a hot bat, recording two singles in three times at the plate. Right fielder Ryan Kirkland posted a third-inning triple and scored a pair of runs, with freshman Brett Cash recording two RBI.
Coker scored first with a solo run in the bottom of the opening frame, but the Trojans erupted for three runs in the second and four in the third to give right-handed hurler TJ Estes all the support he would need on the afternoon.
The Trojans added a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and another in the sixth for their highest offensive output of the young season.
Estes (1-1) earned his first win of the season by tossing six innings and scattering four hits. He surrendered two runs, while striking out two and walking one.
The Trojans worked Coker senior right-hander Sean Tracy for seven runs on eight hits in just two innings, tagging him with the loss.

Catawba 4, Anderson 3
Reeves was 2-for-4 in the nightcap, with a pair of singles and
scored once, while junior Tony Price was 1-for-3 with a
third-inning two-RBI triple to right field.
Coker jumped on top early with a pair of runs in the opening
inning, but AU answered with one run in the second and two in the
third to claim a 3-2 lead. The big shot was Price's two-out triple
that plated Reeves and Blake May.
Coker evened the score with a run in the third and plated the winning run in the fourth.
The Trojans threatened to score in their half of the fifth after cash led off with a single up the middle, but he was stranded at third.
Dan Meyer pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts for Coker, while allowing three runs on six hits with three walks to earn the win, while freshman Landon Beck suffered the loss for the Trojans. The freshman allowed four runs off six hits, while recording six strikeouts and walking two.
Anderson and Coker will wrap up the three-game series Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
