Trojan Baseball Players Earn Preseason Recognition

ANDERSON, S.C. - A pair of Anderson University baseball players have earned preseason recognition from Collegiate Baseball Magazine as "players to watch" in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region, as announced by the publication.

Junior infielder Erick Sanderson has been named as a "player to watch" while freshman pitcher Landon Beck has been named as a "newcomer to watch" on the diamond.

Beck, a 6-foot-4 right-handed hurler, was named all-region in baseball after compiling a stellar 10-1 record with a 2.74 ERA as a senior for Hart County (Ga.) last season. He tossed nine complete games and recorded 103 strikeouts, while helping lead the Bulldogs to a regional championship. Beck also lettered in football and earned GHSA all-region 8-AAA honors as a starting quarterback.

Sanderson started 49 games as a sophomore last season for the Trojans, finishing the season with a .293 batting average. He led the Trojans with 11 home runs, three triples and a .552 slugging percentage. The Hanahan, S.C., native was second on the squad with 35 RBI and posted a seven game hitting streak during March. The 6-foot-4 right-hander also saw action on the mound, leading AU with five wins on the season, while striking out 39 batters in 57 innings pitched.

Anderson begins the season by playing host to UNC Pembroke for a three-game series on Feb. 4-5.
