TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Anderson University baseball team managed just five hits as North Greenville defeated the Trojans, 10-1, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Ashmore Field.

Anderson suffered its third consecutive setback and fell to 3-6 on the season, while North Greenville improved to 5-1.

Freshman second baseman Brett Cash extended his hitting streak to seven games by leading off the game with a double and scored the Trojans' lone run of the contest on junior Erick Sanderson's two-out double to right-center.

The Crusaders answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to take the lead and added four more in the second to put the game out of reach.

Cash finished the afternoon 1-for-4 with the run scored, while Sanderson was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Senior third baseman Blake May added a single in two at-bats, with senior catcher Brett Scarberry hitting safely in his seventh consecutive game with a second-inning single up the middle.

Senior Drew Provence (2-0) earned the win for North Greenville, tossing seven full innings and surrendering four hits, while walking one and striking out seven.

Anderson freshman Spencer Earle (1-1) took the loss, giving up eight runs in 1 2/3 innings, while striking out one and walking two.

Anderson opens South Atlantic Conference play by hosting Carson-Newman in a three-game series this weekend, with first-pitch on Friday slated for 6 p.m.
