CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Paced by junior Arran Setro's 8-over-par 80, the Anderson University men's golf team sits in 13th place following Monday's opening round of the 13th annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tournament, hosted by Wingate at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.
Competing on a par 72, 6,936 yard layout, the Trojans (336) are 22 strokes ahead of the Catawba "B" (358) squad and trail UNC Pembroke (330) by six shots. Walters State Community College (305) leads the event by six shots over Tusculum College (311) after day one.
Setro is in an 11-way tie for 25th, while junior Sean Shelton (84) shares 52nd and freshman Rob Warren (85) is one shot further back in 56th. Freshman Payden Parrish (87) and CJ Messana (87) are in a three-way tie for 63rd.
The two-day event wraps up on Tuesday.
