ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson University women's soccer placed four on the SAC All-Conference teams, headlined by senior forward Tina Shakes first-team selection, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Shakes was the only Trojan to land on the first team, while teammates Alaina Gay, Sophie Riggs and Abby Helm claimed spots on the Honorable Mention list.
Shakes led the Black and Gold in both goals (10) and assists (4) with three game-winners. Shakes has taken 70 shots on the season which ranks third in the SAC. The Coral Springs, Fla. native, has scored goals in seven matches while tallying four goals in a nonconference match against North Greenville.
Gay has anchored the midfield all season long, making starts in all 16 matches for the year. The Aiken, S.C. native has totaled five goals with two assists on the year, while ranking second on the team in shots (42), with 21 coming on goal. Gay was selected Preseason All-SAC second team while being the recipient of the first week's Astroturf SAC Player of the Week honor.
Riggs has played a vital role on the backline that has helped produced nine clean sheets, while also claiming two assists for the year. Battling a late season injury, Riggs has missed the past three matches.
Despite missing several early matches due to illness, Helm has shined in her second season with the Black and Gold. The Dayton, Ohio native goalkeeper has logged over 1095 minutes in goal while recording 54 saves and seven clean sheets. Helm holds an overall record of 8-3-1 in 2016.
