JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. -Despite forcing overtime, the Anderson University women's soccer team was unable to hold off No. 14 Carson-Newman, as the Trojans fell victim to a golden goal in the 93rd minute of the first overtime period Saturday evening at McCown Field.
Sophomore goalkeeper Bianca Porras recorded six saves, as Anderson moves to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in South Atlantic Conference play. Anderson was able to keep Carson-Newman, who is ranked No. 14 nationally by the NSCAA Poll and No. 1 in the Southeast region, on its heels for most of the match, but a header by Alex Brandan beat Porras to her left in the 93rd minute giving the Eagles the 1-0 win.
The Trojans will look to snap a two match losing streak when they travel to SAC foe Newberry on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
