Shakes Four Goals Lifts Anderson Past North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – After scoring a goal in each of the previous two matches, newcomer Tina Shakes tallied four goals to lift Anderson University women's soccer to a 4-0 win over North Greenville on Wednesday evening at Pepsi Stadium/Field.

With the victory, the Trojans move to 3-0 on the season while the Crusaders fall to 1-1.

The Black and Gold outshot the Crusaders 11-7 with nine shots coming on goal.

Shakes becomes the third Trojan since Idoia Agirre a season ago and current Trojan Lyssa Engle two seasons ago to record four goals in a match, as she increased her season total to six after just three matches. After convincing victories over Erskine, Southern Wesleyan and North Greenville, Anderson has outscored its opponents, 13-0.

Shakes put Anderson on the scoreboard first at the 24:18 mark, ultimately the game winner. The native of Coral Springs, Fla. kept the hot foot all night long scoring again at the 42:19 mark from 25 yards out to put the Trojans up 2-0 heading into halftime. Right out of the half (46:12), Shakes gathered the ball in the center of the field and drilled a ball from 40 plus yards out for her third goal of the night. Three minutes later, Shakes scored on a direct kick from 23 yards out.

Sophomore Abby Helm logged a 90 minute complete game in goal recording three saves for the Trojans.

Anderson looks to continue its solid play when it travels to Milledgeville, Ga. for the Bobcat Shootout. The Trojans will face two very competitive opponents from the Peach Belt Conference beginning with Armstrong State on Friday at 4 p.m. The Trojans will then play host Georgia College on Sunday at 3 p.m.
